These terms apply to your use of Identify Coins on IdentifyCoins.com (the "site") and in the Identify Coins iOS app (the "app"). By using the site or app, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use them.

The service

Identify Coins lets you photograph or upload a coin so we can suggest details such as name, country, year range, denomination, condition notes, and an estimated value range.

The website is free to use and does not require an account. The iOS app includes a free plan with a limited number of identifications per week and an optional Pro subscription for unlimited scans, collection features, and related premium functionality.

Subscriptions and billing (app)

Pro subscriptions are auto-renewing and billed through your Apple ID. Payment, renewal, cancellation, refunds, and subscription management are handled by Apple under Apple's terms. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.

If a plan includes a free trial, you will be charged when the trial ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Prices, durations, and trial availability are shown in the app at purchase time and may vary by region.

We use RevenueCat to validate subscription status in the app. We do not store your payment card details.

Your data in the app

Scan history, photos, collections, and related data are stored on your device. You are responsible for your collection on that device. We are not responsible for loss of app data if you delete the app, change devices, or otherwise lose local storage, except as required by law.

Not professional advice

Results are for general information and curiosity only. Value estimates are not professional appraisals, investment advice, or grading opinions. Condition, mint marks, market demand, and other factors can change real-world value. Do not buy, sell, or insure coins based solely on Identify Coins.

No guarantee of accuracy

Identification depends on photo quality and the information visible on the coin. We do not guarantee that any result is complete, correct, or up to date. The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Your photos

You must have the right to submit any image you use. You keep ownership of your photos. You give us a limited permission to process each image you submit only to provide identification, including sending it to Google's Gemini API for analysis as described in our Privacy page. On the website, images may also pass through our hosting infrastructure. In the app, images are stored locally on your device and sent from your device for analysis.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the site or app for any unlawful purpose
• Submit images you do not have permission to use
• Attempt to overload, scrape, or reverse-engineer the service
• Circumvent rate limits, paywalls, or other technical protections
• Submit harmful, offensive, or unrelated content

We may block access or refuse requests if we believe these terms are violated.

Rate limits

On the website, we limit identifications to 10 per hour per IP address. In the app, non-subscribers are subject to a separate weekly identification limit shown in the app. Limits may change without notice.

Third-party services

Identify Coins relies on third parties including Google (Gemini and Firebase), Apple (App Store billing), RevenueCat (subscription management), and, on the website, Vercel (hosting and analytics) and Upstash (rate limiting). Your use may also be subject to their terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Identify Coins and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profit, data, or goodwill arising from your use of the site or app. Our total liability for any claim related to the site or app will not exceed the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim (which is zero for the free website, and equals your subscription payments for the app where applicable).

Changes

We may update these terms or change the site or app at any time. Continued use after changes are posted means you accept the updated terms. The date at the top shows when this page was last revised.
